    A spokesperson with Carolinas HealthCare System says the boy was born at Carolinas Medical Center around 12:30 a.m. The boy weighed seven pounds and two ounces, according to the spokesperson. According to officials with Novant Health, the Novant Health Medical Center on Gilead Road in Huntersville welcomed their first baby of the new year around 12:32 a.m. Luke Benjamin King was the first baby born at the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center on Hawthorne Lane in Charlotte just before 12:30 a.m. Silas Cain Taylor was born around 4 a.m. at the Novant Health Medical Center on Old Lexington Road in Thomasville and another baby was born around 6:45 a.m. at the Novant Health Medical Center in Rowan County, officials said.
