According to officials with Novant Health, the Novant Health Medical Center on Gilead Road in Huntersville welcomed their first baby of the new year around 12:32 a.m. Luke Benjamin King was the first baby born at the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center on Hawthorne Lane in Charlotte just before 12:30 a.m. Silas Cain Taylor was born around 4 a.m. at the Novant Health Medical Center on Old Lexington Road in Thomasville and another baby was born around 6:45 a.m. at the Novant Health Medical Center in Rowan County, officials said.
