    Police said a high speed chase early Sunday morning resulted in the arrest of an armed robbery suspect with lots of drugs in his possession and had an unusual but safe ending. The Thibodaux Police Department reported Christopher Smith, 49, of Thibodaux, fled from officers who tried to pull him over after he allegedly ran a stop sign around 2:30 a.m. Police Chief Bryan Zeringue said Smith led officers on a chase that reached speeds of 95 mph that ended and ended when the hood on the vehicle popped up, covering the windshield and forcing him to slow down, and then the suspect turned down a dead end street.
