    Two fatality accidents have occurred in the Tecumseh area in recent days. On Monday at 8:17 a.m., Carreon Everardo, 27, of Shawnee, died after his 2000 Ford Mustang crossed the center line on U.S. 177 at Lone Star Road and struck a 2012 Ford pickup driving by Kevin Sayers, 39, of Harrah.

    Tecumseh Schools cut the ribbon on the latest of its playground improvement projects, this time at Barnard Elementary . The playground renovations, funded by a grant from the Avedis Foundation, included putting in sensory play panels on one of the big toys, installation of a new big toy, a handicapped/wheelchair swing, swing mats under the swings, ramps into the play area, and all new borders and mulch under the entire play area.

    A new emergency notification system for county residents will be implemented if voters approve an increase in the 9-1-1 landline fee Nov. 4. Pottawatomie County E9-1-1 trustees voted Oct. 6 to purchase the system, probably Blackboard Connect, if the fee increase is approved. The system, currently in use in Tecumseh and Shawnee, can send out automated telephone calls and emails in the event of an emergency such as an approaching tornado, flooding, wildfires or manhunts.
