    Twenty bands will play Saturday at what organizers say is Southern Oregon's first-ever "SmokeFest" - a rock concert where marijuana will be openly used by people over 21 without breaking any laws.  “Oregon SmokeFest 2015” is scheduled to run from noon to 10 p.m. at 59 Stage Road at Voorhies Road between Phoenix and Medford. It will feature a beer garden and cannabis area, screened off from the rest of the festival.

    A new mural, “The Horses of the Equamore Foundation,” by mosaicist Karen Rycheck, will be unveiled on the side of Grotto's Pizza building at 5 p.m. Friday, July 31, at 302 W. Main St., Talent. Rycheck creates fine-art mosaics, ceramics and public and private commissions from her studio in Talent under the name missmosaic.  “The Horses of Equamore” mosaic is 28 feet long and 2.5 feet high and is composed entirely of handmade ceramic tile created by the artist, Rycheck said in a news release.  The project was funded by a grant from the Haines Foundation of Ashland and other contributors.
