    As a strong supporter of our local bus service, the Rogue Valley Transportation District , I've been riding buses recently, chatting to bus riders and taking photos of those who give me permission to post them on Rogue Valley Transit Now's Facebook page. If voters pass the measure, RVTD will add back Saturday service, which had to be eliminated a couple of years ago because a grant that paid for it ran out and it is something so many bus riders want restored.

    A group of pro-bono lawyers here is working to gain refugee status for the family of Ashlander Naomi Kerongo, so family members can come to the U.S. before they are killed for speaking out against the government of Kenya. Another son, niece and granddaughter remain there waiting, she says, for the State Department to OK their immigration, something they only do for about 1 percent of such applicants, says Talent resident Laura Lindley-Gutierrez of the Center for Non-Profit Legal Services in Medford, which is organizing the effort.

St. Clair, 66, a goat farmer and house cleaner from Talent, started out by presenting the famed Maria Muldaur in 1995 and regularly had audiences of more than 300, but in the past four years it has dropped under 200 and last fall was only 135 for Chris Williams, a historic good draw.

    A Northern California man suspected of trying to hit a Talent woman with his car and shoot her after stealing from her home in February is facing numerous felony charges in Jackson County, including attempted murder. A grand jury indicted 40-year-old Phillip Leo Muradanes April 13 on attempted murder, first-degree robbery, attempted first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and first-degree theft, along with three misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment.
