    Breezy's Garage at 219 Grove St. in DeKalb was built in 1944 by Russel Breese and the business remained there until 1955 when he purchased the Embree Lumber Yards building from Wait Enbree at 130 S. First St. Thanks to the Joiner History Room for the photo. Three hundred thirty five tons of cabbage was raised on the Waterman farm east of town this summer.

    Nine men whose services were donated by the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce, that organization which has been energetically and successfully working for the interests of Sycamore from the first day of its organization only three month ago, were working on Monday of this week at Five Points assisting in unloading crushed rock and distributing it on the Mayfield roads. A great deal of satisfaction and enthusiasm is felt in DeKalb over a new industry which has located there.

    The Turner Brass Works, because of the increase of about one-third in the water rates charged large customers, are putting in a pumping system of their own and will supply their own water. A fire alarm was turned in just before noon on Monday because of a small blaze in L. C. Love's shop near the North-Western depot in Sycamore, but a second call notified the engineer that the blaze had been extinguished, and to notify the firemen not to go out, the engineer stopped the alarm whistle before the box number was sounded.

    Hundreds of “Pumpkin in Disguise” entrants will be on display during Sycamore's annual Pumpkin Festival at the DeKalb County Courthouse near the intersection of State and Main streets in downtown Sycamore.
