The Blue Star Moms will contribute $4,000 of the money raised here in our community to send these deserving veterans to Washington D. C. to see their war memorials.

    While looking into the 2014-2015 unaudited actuals, the Susanville School District Board of Trustees informally discussed what to do with the school cafeteria lunches. According to Susanville School District Chief Business Official Michelle Brown, at the end of the last fiscal year, the district had to transfer about $20,000 from the general fund to the cafeteria fund in order to avoid a negative balance.

That - according to a wrongful death lawsuit filed in the United States District Court, Eastern District of California, Sacramento Division in 2012 - is only one of several messages left by Scott Jones, a 36-year-old correctional officer at High Desert State Prison, notes found in his pickup truck near the place where he took his own life in early July 2011 near Lake Forest Estates just outside of Susanville.
