According to Captain Jamie Ezzell with the Pender County Sheriff's Office, detectives had been investigating the business located at 310 N. New River Dr. for several weeks.

    Doctors at UNC Children's Hospital say Oak Island shark bite victim Kiersten Yow has had several surgeries since she was bitten on June 14. The 12-year-old was transferred to UNC from New Hanover Regional Medical Center the day after she was injured. Kiersten had two surgeries during her first week at UNC.

    A tropical storm warning was issued Friday for parts of North and South Carolina as Ana approached the U.S. coast, kicking up rough surf and rip currents ahead of what was forecast to be a rainy weekend. The storm formed nearly a month before the Atlantic Hurricane season officially kicks off June 1. The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Friday that Ana's maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with slight strengthening forecast during the next day or so.
