    Pleasanton streets were clogged Wednesday night during commute hours as motorists in backed-up traffic on the I-680 and I-580 freeways cut through city streets in search of another way home. The bumper-to-bumper traffic on Sunol Boulevard, Valley and Bernal avenues and Hopyard and Santa Rita roads was the result of a fatal vehicle collision on eastbound I-580 just east of Vasco Road that caused the freeway to be closed at 3:07 p.m. California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Creel said a multiple-vehicle collision involved a pickup truck that rear-ended a Jeep Cherokee, which overturned and caught on fire.
