Barry McRoy with Colleton County Fire & Rescue said the crash happened on I-95 southbound near mile marker 44 at approximately 3:50 a.m. Crews arrived at the scene to find the 18-wheeler and a passenger car, a 2001 Ford Taurus, off in the woods, he said.

    Officials say four people were killed and three others were injured in a crash around 4 a.m. Friday morning that involved two vehicles on Interstate 95. Colleton County Fire and Rescue arrived and found a tractor-trailer off the road in the woods and a passenger vehicle that had been struck in the rear, also pushed into the woods. They truck drove on top of the passenger vehicle and crushed it, trapping four backseat passengers and the adult female driver inside.
