    Sterlington police arrested a Monroe man on suspicion of disturbing the peace through public intoxication last month after authorities were notified of the suspect taking pictures of automobiles in a parking lot. Ernie Clay Hargrove, 21, of 122 Pecan Lake Estates, Monroe, claimed he was taking pictures so he could find his own automobile.

    Some 3,100 people in Ouachita Parish cast votes during early voting for the general election on Saturday, Dec. 8. Saturday's election includes a statewide race for secretary of state as well as a mayoral race in the town of Sterlington among other elections for Monroe school board seats and road lighting district renewals. As of Monday, early voting in Ouachita Parish totaled 3,158, with 2,435 in person votes cast and 723 votes cast on absentee ballots, according to the Secretary of State's office.

    Strauss Theatre Center in Monroe plans to hold auditions for its production of "The Cover of Life" on Sunday and Monday, Aug. 27-28, beginning at 6 p.m. "The Cover of Life" will be the center's second production of the 2018-2019 season. The play was written by Ron Robinson, a native of Bastrop and Northeast , and a former performer on the Strauss Stage, the play had a successful off-Broadway run, has had a number of regional productions, and in March had a limited run off Broadway as a part of the Women's History Month.
