    Dennis Foxhoven was back Tuesday night to talk to the Sterling City Council again about a proposal from the Citizens Advisory Board to increase the city's lodging tax rate by 2 percent. Foxhoven, who serves as a hotel representative on the CAB, said the board had made some adjustments to the proposed ballot question since coming before the council on May 9. The referendum would ask voters to approve a 2 percent convention tax on hotel stays, with the funds allocated to the creation - whether through new construction or refurbishing an existing building - of a community convention center.

    The Sterling Police Department will hold a community meeting on the release of a sexually violent predator into the community at 7 p.m. today at Sterling Municipal Court in City Hall, 421 N. Fourth St. State law requires that a meeting be held to inform the community about the release of sexually violent predators. Educational information regarding sexual offending will also be presented by a team of professionals involved in the management of sex offenders in our community.
