    A severe thunderstorm quickly swept through the Eastern Panhandle Tuesday afternoon, knocking down trees and power lines in scattered locations throughout Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties, according to police and wire reports. A line of severe, fast moving thunderstorms ran from 8 miles west of Inwood to near Stephens City, moving northeast at 45 mph starting around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service office in Stering, Virginia.
