Alamance Community College has been awarded $199,592 from the National Science Foundation to develop a Mechatronics Technology Institute for the Alamance-Burlington School System. The institute - called "MechTech" - is estimated to affect 720 high school students and 45 STEM instructors by providing professional development for teachers through one-day workshops and a week-long summer workshop addressing mechatronics-based lesson plans, tours of mechatronics workplaces, speakers, maker-guild events, and an online resource community.
