    Early voting in the Tri-County for the May 8 primaries for state, county and Board of Education offices gets underway today and runs through May 5. Although the regular voter registration deadline has passed, voters may register during one-stop early voting, but are not able to change party affiliation for the primary election. According to the North Carolina State Board of Elections website, eligible voters must: be a citizen of the United States; live in the county he or she is registering in for at least 30 days prior to the election date; must be at least 18 years old; must rescind prior registrations in any other county or state and must not be serving a felony conviction sentence.
