    Robert L. Gross, of Pineclair Drive, was driving a gold, four-door Ford Taurus at 10:20 p.m. on Thomasboro Road on his way home when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete culvert in a drainage ditch, deputy coroner Dave Crocker said. Gross and his front-seat passenger, 44-year-old Timothy Jones of Stanley, N.C., the owner of the vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene, Crocker said.
