    Monte Dilliner, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene after he lost control of his 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle around 12:16 a.m. on U.S. Highway 175, about two miles west of Stratford, according to the Iowa State Patrol. The state patrol said Dilliner was traveling east when his motorcycle dropped off onto the right-hand shoulder and he lost control.

    Gary Carlson, 73, has been identified as the man who died in an early morning house fire in Jewell Monday morning, obituary records confirm. The fire also heated a 1,000-gallon LP gas tank which heated to the point that the excess flow valve was discharging LP gas and creating a flame.
