Mark Dudenhefer, a former county supervisor who served two terms in the Virginia House of Delegates, was certified as the winner one week after the election. Supervisor Laura Sellers, a one-term incumbent, petitioned the court for a recount Nov. 27. Because less than half a percent separates the candidates, Stafford will pay for the recount, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Dec. 12. The court will certify as the winner the candidate who has the most votes after ballots are recounted.
