    A 52-year-old Geneva woman was arrested and charged Tuesday with stealing more than $100,000 from a veterinary clinic in west suburban St. Charles. Martha P. Strauss, of the 200 block of South Harrison Street, was charged with two felony counts of theft of greater than $100,000 but less than $500,000, according to a statement from St. Charles police.

    Two construction projects on Route 31 in and around west suburban St. Charles have begun and are scheduled to be finished towards the end of the year, which could mean the road will be reduced to one lane as crews work. Work will be done on Route 31 south of Crane Road to Ferson Creek Road as the Illinois Department of Transportation replaces the culvert under the roadway at Ferson Creek and widens and resurfaces the road, according to a statement from the St. Charles officials.

    A woman who had a menagerie of animals-from llamas to rabbits to mini-donkeys-on two Kane County farms has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for starving and abusing the animals. Stacy A. Fiebelkorn, 36, agreed to the sentence Friday in exchange for pleading guilty to cruel treatment of animals, a Class A misdemeanor, according to a statement from the Kane County state's attorney's office.

    A west suburban man who strangled his wife in a jealous rage, then dragged her body to nearby railroad tracks to try to make it look like a suicide, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. Shadwick R. King, 47, of the 800 block of Oak Street in Geneva, was sentenced by Circuit Judge James Hallock on Friday.

    A northwest suburban man who hacked into his co-worker's email account 13 times in one month in 2010 has sentenced to probation. Robert Beeter, 53, of Elgin pleaded guilty Thursday to one felony count of identity theft and was sentenced to two years probation, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office.
