    In the ongoing battle reported by Historic City News between St Johns County and the US Veterans Affairs over relocation of the St Augustine Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Ponte Vedra Beach Congressman Ron DeSantis has scheduled Assistant County Administrator Jerry Cameron to give testimony before a congressional panel. Elizabeth Dillon announced to local Historic City News reporters that Rep. DeSantis , will convene a hearing tomorrow, June 25th, and entitled, "A Review of Veterans Affairs Major Lease Procurement".

    Florida National Guard and Department of Military Affairs leaders in St Augustine have reported to Historic City News that they are well pleased with the budget allocations approved by Governor Rick Scott and the Florida legislature. The 2015-2016 "KEEP FLORIDA WORKING" budget is significant in that it allows the Department of Military Affairs to continue improvements on armories throughout the state, provide funds for Guardsmen pursuing a higher civilian education, and maintain community based programs for youth and adults.

    Lance Thate, chairman of the Saint Augustine Tea Party, reported to Historic City News today that members of the local grass roots political organization intend to fight for their constitutional right to freedom of expression; guaranteed by the United States Constitution. At issue is a ten-year old county ordinance that, on the surface appears to bolster, not diminish, the rights of citizens to assemble peacefully, express themselves freely, and seek redress of grievances against the government.

    Historic City News will find several items of interest on tonight's agenda when the City of St Augustine Commission convenes but the "Main Event" may be the second reading, public hearing, and final action on how the city will define and allow operation of a " Special Event Venue ". The controversial business model has been in the spotlight since a new property owner on Anastasia Island in the North Davis Shores neighborhood attempted to convert an eclectic residence on Flagler Avenue into a place to hold weddings, anniversary celebrations, receptions, luncheons and dinners and similar events As is common, there was very little discussion on first reading of the proposed new ordinance.

The award is named for the late wife of The Report Card publisher Francesca Stencil Korach; whose father, CAPT Walter Stencil, USN saw action in 11 Pacific Battles included Pearl Harbor, and whose brother Craig, was a navy fighter pilot.

Nighttime lane closures Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. a half-mile north of the rest area at the St. Johns County line to one mile south of Old St. Augustine Road for construction related to the State Road 9B project.

    Historic City News was informed that the Conch House intends to move forward with their plans to hold another "Reggae Sunday" party after a two-week hiatus while city management, police and fire services tried to sort out all of the things that went wrong during the Memorial Day melee that sent two guests to the hospital and has resulted in four criminal complaints filed against security staff at the event. Editor Michael Gold spoke to City Manager John Regan this afternoon to see what if any corrective measures have been taken by the Conch House Marina Resort on Anastasia Island in order to satisfy the findings of the Fire Marshal, Fire Chief and Chief of Police.
