Hannah and Al Aldrich informed Historic City News that, following a meeting between the founding members of Vilano Action Network and the board of directors of North Shores Improvement Association, an agreement has been reached for an affiliation that will allow the Vilano Action Network to tap into the knowledge, experience and connections of the nearly 80-year-old North Shores organization. The 501 non-profit North Shores Improvement Association was founded in 1939 to assist residents with common needs at a time before Vilano Beach, Surfside, and North Beach were well connected to the main land in St Augustine.

Many issues were yet to be resolved including the increased traffic on SR-312 and surrounding roads, tree preservation, active eagle nesting, environmental concerns including habitat loss, run-off and flooding potential to surrounding neighborhoods, and historical site preservation.
