    On June 9, La Salle County State's Attorney Karen Donnelly, on behalf of the county, lodged a suit against Spring Valley, alleging the city had no authority to receive $573,451.18 seized by the now defunct La Salle County State's Attorney's Felony Enforcement unit, also known as SAFE. Former La Salle County State's Attorney Brian Towne, who formed SAFE in 2011, was originally named in the suit, but was dropped July 25. At any rate, Donnelly said Towne was not authorized to forward the money to Spring Valley.

    The investigation and search continues for a Bureau County teenager who was reported missing by her family since Aug. 14. According to a Bureau County Sheriff's Office press release, investigators are asking local residents to call 911 if they see missing 14-year-old Anna Racine, of Bureau. The sheriff's office explained Racine went missing from her residence sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14. Racine, is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, about 112 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes and may be carrying a red Hall High School bag.
