    The Reno City Council and Redevelopment Agency Board on Wednesday approved to adopt a $532.2 million city budget for fiscal year 2016-17, which includes tax levies and the adoption of the fee schedule , according to a news release from the city. The 2016-17 general fund budget, or expenditures, is $178.8 million, an increase of more than $10 million compared to the 2015-16 adopted figure of $168.4 million, the statement read.

    A Sparks man has been sentenced to life in prison on charges of sexual assault and lewdness against a child, according to a statement issued by the office of Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks. 47-year-old Jose Antonio Guardado was sentenced Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 28, and will not be eligible for parole until he has served a minimum of 45 years in prison, authorities said.

The trailer and Yamaha ATV have been recovered, after they were stolen sometime between Sunday, Oct. 25, and Monday, Oct. 26, from a home on the 2300 block of Garnet Star Way, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
