    A suspected shoplifter was spotted and arrested after police sent out a be-on-the-lookout call informing officers of thefts that had just occurred at the Meijer store in Lincoln Park, and then at the Meijer store in Southgate. A Wyandotte officer was traveling north on Fort Street, just past Goddard Road, at about 10:15 p.m. May 18, when he spotted a white 2000 Ford Windstar with the license plate listed as the suspect vehicle.

    The co-owner of Al Petri & Sons Bicycles, 2160 Fort St., reported a $1,000 bike stolen on May 19. The suspect entered the store at approximately 10:30 a.m. to test ride a bicycle. Standard practice at the store is to take test drivers' licenses as collateral while they test bikes, but the suspect reached over the counter to get his license back without the co-owner noticing.

    While it was fortunate the report of a person being shot in Wyandotte turned out to be false, police found plenty of evidence indicating illegal drug activity was taking place where the call was made. Police were sent to a house in the 1900 block of Second Street at about 7:30 p.m. April 14 after someone called police to report a person had just been shot, but then hung up the phone.
