The new construction, 29775 Southfield Road, is an outparcel of the Home Depot at 29801 Southfield Road, and it will be dubbed Southfield HD Plaza.

    After a harrowing 5 1/2 hours of not knowing the whereabouts of 9-year-old Monique Woods, a child who has austism and is nonverbal, police located her in the same apartment complex from which she went missing. Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue said that Woods' caregiver reported her missing at approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, from an apartment near 14 Mile and Crooks roads.

    Sterling Heights police recently spoke on the latest developments regarding a man accused of snapping surreptitious pictures of women at a Target store. Police say the suspect, listed as Brandon Devon Woods, 27, from Southfield, allegedly went to the Target at 2310 Metropolitan Parkway, near Dequindre Road, on June 15. At around 4:30 p.m. he allegedly photographed women in states of undress in the store's dressing rooms, police said.

Loussia said that Bell was last in contact with family and friends on May 25, when she and a friend were at the restaurant Theresa's Place, 14033 McNichols Road in Detroit.

    The developer behind Hazel Park's sprawling Tri-County Commerce Center has snapped up the remaining land at the former Hazel Park Raceway and is already planning to construct two large buildings there, which are expected to bring new jobs and revenue to the city. Ashley Capital completed its purchase of the 95 acres on April 27. The developer, based in New York City with a local office in Canton Township, acquired the land at an undisclosed price from Hartman and Tyner Inc., a real estate developer in Southfield.

    Voters within the Southfield Public School District decided to approve a sinking fund tax for school buildings, technology and security upgrades May 8. According to the unofficial results from the Oakland County Elections Division, voters approved the millage with 57.77 percent of the vote, or 3,007 votes; 42.23 percent opted to strike down the millage, or 2,198 voters. The proposal will authorize SPS to levy a building and site sinking fund tax, according to the Oakland County Elections Division official ballot language.

    The city of Ferndale has had the Development on Troy, a mixed-use parking development at 221 W. Troy St., in the works for close to two years, and the city administration delivered an update on progress on "The dot" to the City Council April 9. During the regular council meeting, Assistant City Manager Joe Gacioch reported to the council on the city's efforts involving requests for qualifications from private developers to develop the residential, office and retail space of the building. As it stands now, The dot would have 397 parking spaces, street-level retail space amounting to 12,000 to 16,000 square feet, approximately 40,000 square feet of office space, and a stand-alone residential development with 24-28 units.
