    The Sonora Area Foundation and an anonymous donor have contributed just shy of half of the $12,000 that Sonora's Red Church estimates it needs to repair its aging steeple, which is at risk of collapsing this winter when heavy winds and rain arrive. The donations come at a time when the St. James Episcopal Church, commonly known as the Red Church, has not yet mounted fundraising plans nor secured reliable funding sources for a host of important repair projects, from retiling a leaky roof to installing new ceramic screws inside the steeple.
