    While the number of personnel assigned to the Marble Fire has increased, according to an update from the U.S. Forest Service, the blaze burning in the Marble Mountains 7 miles north of Somes Bar remained at 280 acres and was 35 percent contained as of Saturday morning. According to the update, on Saturday 287 firefighters worked on improving lines, mopping up around the fire and extinguishing hot spots that could threaten the line along Patterson Ranch Road and 13N32 Road near Bald Butte.

    The acreage of the Marble Fire has more than doubled its previous estimate, according to Incident Commander Rick Young in Friday's U.S. Forest Service update. While fire behavior was minimal Thursday night due to high humidity and low temperatures, according to the update, the blaze 7 miles north of Somes Bar off of state Route 96 has burned 280 acres and was 8 percent contained as of Friday morning.

    Pacific Gas and Electric Company and the Hoopa Valley Tribe announced the date for a scheduled power outage so that crews can safely replace electrical equipment on power lines to improve electric reliability from Hoopa to Somes Bar in Humboldt County. The scheduled power outage will happen on Tuesday, June 6, at 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Approximately 2,200 affected customers in Hoopa, Orleans, Somes Bar, and Weitchpec will be notified by PG&E about the scheduled work by phone this week and the next.
