A series of burglaries was being investigated by Lubbock police, including clothing valued at $1,000 was reportedly taken from an auto owned by a female college student of Chitwood Hall at Texas Tech.

    An Amarillo woman is dead and another remains hospitalized after a one-vehicle rollover crash that happened just after 8 a.m. Sunday morning near Snyder. Department of Public Safety officials on Monday said a 2008 Dodge Dakota carrying 52-year-old Delfina Diaz Guardado and 25-year-old Cristina Guardado, both of Amarillo, was traveling south on U.S. Highway 84 when it "veered left into the median."

    Lubbock and the South Plains hadn't been blown away by late Wednesday, despite strong gusts that prompted a wind advisory for much of the day. Winds topped out in the 40s to upper 50s Wednesday afternoon and evening across the area, with notable top gusts in the area including 58 mph at Colorado City, 55 mph at Andrews and 50 mph at Snyder, according to the Wext Texas Mesonet weather observation system.
