    Firefighters were responding to a roughly 50-acre brush fire in Skokomish, Mason County, late Wednesday, according to tweets by a Mason County fire official and Seattle Times news partner KING 5. The fire was burning close to North Sunnyside Road, and authorities were trying to keep the fire from crossing the road. It was not immediately known if there were any injuries or structures burned.

    Fire crews in Mason County are battling a fast-moving brush fire that knocked out power to thousands of residents Thursday night. The fire, which spans roughly 50 acres in the Skokomish Valley north of Shelton, was first reported at 7:30 p.m. Several dozen firefighters from Central Mason Fire were sent to the valley to battle the blaze Thursday night, but because the fire was burning below power lines, they had to wait for officials from Bonneville Power to cut the power, according to Norma King with Central Mason Fire.
