This week, the know-it-alls at FEMA determined that 21 private communities in unincorporated Chatham County, including one of the largest - the Landings on Skidaway Island - weren't eligible for federal aid in the ongoing effort to remove all the debris left in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.

The concrete barn, now used for storage, will house a museum documenting the history of Skidaway Island and the Roebling family who owned the land before donating it to the state as well as the history of the institute's work since its inception in 1968.
