    Canada geese seem more like a bonafide wildlife sighting when you see them in the snowbank along the Deschutes River in central Oregon than in a Willamette River park in Portland. Either way, the geese keep a wary eye on human intruders, standing their ground along the bank ready to jump in the water and swim away, should a person approach too closely.

    Searchers started looking again for a 39-year-old Bend climber who reportedly fell while nearing the summit of Middle Sister three days ago. Ben Newkirk has been missing since Wednesday at about 10 p.m. But winds up to 60 mph, whiteout conditions and frigid temperatures hampered search efforts on Thursday and Friday.
