Shopper Brielle Foley said she was "stoked" about the open-air shopping center with its 220,000 square feet of retail and dining space. Foley and two friends were checking out the new Ulta Beauty cosmetics store, which earlier had a soft opening.

    Kitsap County Sheriff's Office detectives served a search warrant at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening at a residence on Sherman Hill Road in North Kitsap county where they took a 20-year-old man into custody for an armed robbery that occurred in Silverdale Tuesday night. Richard Earl "EJ" Kirkland, 20, who has a Poulsbo address, was booked into the Kitsap County jail for first-degree robbery.

    An 86-year-old Bremerton man was injured after the car he was driving hydroplaned as he drove north on State Route 3 Oct. 10. According to a Washington State Patrol report, the man was driving a silver 2006 Scion car at a speed too fast for conditions about two miles north of Silverdale near the intersection of Trigger Avenue. The car hydroplaned and went off the right side of the road and struck a tree around 10:45 a.m. He was wearing a seat belt at the time.

    The Bremerton Police Department, which responded to the call, is looking for any information from the public about the incident. The cat, yellow and seemingly well-fed, was taken to the Emergency Veterinarian Clinic in Silverdale, but was euthanized almost immediately, according to Bremerton Police Chief Steve Strachan.

    A 29-year-old Port Ludlow man was charged with three counts of theft for allegedly stealing more than nine cans of keyboard cleaner from Walmart in Bremerton and Best Buy in Silverdale to use them for "huffing." According to Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, the man stole an unknown quantity of cans of keyboard cleaner from the Bremerton Walmart on Aug. 12. He was released from the scene so he could be transported to the hospital due to "huffing."
