But 59-year-old Wright Koonce also told police he shot 45-year-old Brian Andre Gibson multiple times as the younger man had his back turned and was running away, according to a police affidavit.

Elaine Rowena Allen, 71, was killed Nov. 9 after she was struck by a white 2010 Ford E250 van on Columbia Pike/Route 29 at Hillwood Drive around 6:40 p.m. Police said the driver of a gray- or silver-colored sedan that was traveling southbound on Columbia Pike near Hillwood Drive at around 6:30 p.m. that night may have witnessed the collision and are asking the driver to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.

    Part of Metro's Red Line will be shut down between Silver Spring and Fort Totten for the two weeks after Thanksgiving Day, and scheduled train service will be reduced along the rest of the line. The complete shutdown for critical repairs that Federal Transit Administration reports suggested are urgently needed will run from Saturday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Dec. 10. Takoma Metro station will be closed from Nov. 25 through Dec. 10, and fewer trains than usual will be scheduled along the length of the Red Line.
