    On Tuesday, June 6, at about 1:07 p.m., a call was received by the Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority advising that a male had just stolen a purse from a woman who was getting into her vehicle in the Ace Hardware parking lot. The caller, according to an affidavit for arrest, advised that the man had just purchased a snow cone from her, prior to the robbery, at Tropical Island Paradise on the south side of the lot, and that the Hispanic male was with two kids and a "white girlfriend."

    At Tuesday's, May 23, town meeting, and citing "a whole lot of uncertainties about our revenues for the next fiscal year," and the requirement to adopt a preliminary budget by the end of May, Town Manager Alex Brown recommended approval of a resolution to increase property tax rates for residential and nonresidential properties within the town by one mil. According to County Assessor Raul Turrieta, the increase on a $50,000 property valued for tax purposes at $16,000 would be $16, and on a $150,000 property with a taxable value of $50,000 the increase would be $50.

    On Monday May 22, 2017 around 8:15 a.m., a New Mexico State Police officer was notified of a vehicle crash on State Road 90 at mile post 37. While en route to the scene, the responding officer learned that the situation had escalated. When the officer arrived on scene, he learned that Michael Aguirre, of Silver City, NM, had driven his vehicle and deliberately forced another vehicle off the road, causing the crash.

    Silver City police officers were dispatched to the Wells Fargo Bank at 1201 Pope Street on Friday, May 19, at approximately 5:33 p.m., in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred. According to a SCPD incident report, bank employees and witnesses told officers that a tall, Caucasian male wearing all green camo, a camo fishing hat, and dark glasses entered the bank through the north side doors, walked up to a teller, pointed a black handgun at her, and aggressively demanded money from the teller.
