    SILVER CITY >> An 85-year-old Pinos Altos woman has been arrested in connection with the accident that sent a Silver City orthopedic surgeon to the hospital on Saturday, according to a report from the Silver City Police Department. Dorothy Spangler, 85, of Pinos Altos, was arrested on Saturday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving great bodily harm and reckless driving as a result of the collision between her 1997 Jeep SUV and bicyclist Brian Robinson on Pinos Altos Road.

    When the state froze Medicaid funding for local mental healthcare providers in the summer of 2013, they had no choice but to turn to La Frontera and other Arizona providers to step in because there was nobody in New Mexico able take over those services, Gov. Susana Martinez insisted at the time. At a community meeting here last week, new Human Services Secretary Brent Earnest reported that La Frontera plans to end services in Lordsburg, Silver City and Deming on May 31; in Ruidoso and Alamogordo on June 29; and in Las Cruces and Anthony on July 31. He said the state was working with four Managed Care Organizations to take over services.
