    Save the Sherburne Inn Restoration Project, Inc. has announced on February 10, that a group of students from Sherburne-Earlville Central School has been chosen to complete a mural project in the dining porch of the historic Sherburne Inn. The students who will be completing the mural project are sophomore, Riley Webster, and seniors' Colleen Eggers and Abby Mullen.

    On Saturday, Oct. 29, eleven members of the Chenango County's Habitat for Humanity gathered in the town of Sherburne to continue their progress on building a family home. The eleven members that volunteered their time and services participated in shoveling and leveling gravel into the foundation, laying out insulating foam sheets, covering those with plastic sheeting to deter the movement of moisture and radon, placing another layer of insulating sheets at right angles to the layer below, and then installing wire mesh.

    In what one local dog control officer called 'the worst case he has ever worked', a Johnson City man received a 60-day suspended sentence after being convicted of two misdemeanor counts of animal neglect. In late January, 2016, members of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office were alerted to a suspected case of animal cruelty at a residence on Whaupaunaucau Road, in North Norwich.

    A Sherburne man entered a plea of guilty to unlawfully manufacturing meth in the third degree, a class D felony, when the Chenango County Court convened for an afternoon session last Monday, Sept. 26. In an agreed upon disposition with the Chenango County District Attorney's Office, in exchange for his plea of guilty, and his testimony against his co-defendant in any future court proceedings, Ian W. Quinn, 23, will receive a two-year determinate sentence in the New York State Department of Corrections, followed by one and a half years of post release supervision.

    A Sherburne man was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence of one and a third to three years in the New York State Department of Corrections when the Chenango County Court convened for a morning session last Friday, Sept. 23. Dustin C. Freeman, who now resides in Quincy, Massachusetts, previously appeared in court on Aug. 8, and entered pleas of guilty to one count of unlawful surveillance in the second degree, a class E felony; and one count of dissemination of an unlawful surveillance image in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
