    The northbound lane of Howe Avenue under the Route 8 bridge will be closed to all traffic every day for twelve hours for the next two or three weeks, Shelton police said. The lane will be closed every day from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Police said a detour has been put in place during the extended lane closure.

    Todd J. Conley, 35, of Howe Avenue, was charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief in connection with an early morning break-in at the scale house at the town's transfer station on June 2. According to police, Conley used a piece of concrete curbing to break a window at the scale house around 1:30 a.m. Later, police found empty bank bags from the town's Solid Waste and Recycling Department along the side of Center Street in Southport. There was a second break-in that morning at the Spic and Span Market, where $2,160 worth of cigarettes were taken.
