    Robert Alan Murphy's Ford F-350 was reportedly parked in the northbound lane of Burkett Avenue, facing south, with its headlights on, and he was standing outside the truck on the driver's side with the door open, a FHP report states. Gerald Stephen Strong, 60, Sebring, who was going north on the northbound lane, was blinded by the Ford's headlights and swerved right to avoid the truck, FHP says.

The discussion would come little more than two weeks after Country Club Utilities president Greg Harris notified Highlands County officials on Oct. 22 of his decision to abandon the utility in 65 days.

    Pedro Alexander Idelfonso, 24, 4607 Granada Blvd., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver and possession of drug equipment. The report said a deputy investigating the accident spotted a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run at Idelfonso's home.

    Two years ago, Sheriff Susan Benton decided to leave the Highlands County Health Plan, an insurance group that included county employees, plus workers in the elections, tax, clerk's and property appraiser offices. Instead, she joined the Florida Sheriff's Association insurance fund, but rates went up so quickly that some deputies and staff left, Chief Deputy Mark Schrader said at Tuesday's county commission meeting.

The impressive win, which gave Sebring its first district title since 2003, earned the Blue Streaks a regional quarterfinal home match against District 12 runner-up Golden Gate on Wednesday.
