    Hundreds of hard-working young middle school student-athletes from Wiscasset to Searsport - a geographical distance of about 60 miles - descended on Medomak Middle School on Wednesday, Oct. 11 to eat afternoon snacks, horse around with friends, socialize with teammates, talk to parents and grandparents and then, when instructed to, pushed themselves physically and emotionally 13 to 30 minutes in the Busline League cross-country championships. The 221 youngsters motored around a scenic 2.1-mile trails course and, during the race, they received vocal support from a boatload of cheering fans along their journey, especially in the final 100-yard push through the chute to the finish line.

    The regular seasons for Busline League middle school boys, girls and coed soccer have wrapped - or nearly wrapped - as teams set their sights on long postseason runs. The boys and girls soccer seasons have concluded, while coed games remained to be played as of Monday, Oct. 9.     A Searsport woman has been charged with five counts of theft and two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle after police confronted her in the YMCA parking lot on Lincolnville Avenue Oct. 3. Police said Rachel-Olivia White, 24, used her YMCA membership to enter the facility and then got into the women's locker room Oct. 2 and 3. There she allegedly went through lockers and removed car keys. According to police, she then used the stolen keys to enter locked vehicles parked outside - one vehicle each day.
