A Thursday afternoon shooting led to a police standoff, a dramatic plume of smoke wafting through city streets, tangled traffic and the eventual arrest of an unidentified suspect near Abercorn Street. The shooting victim, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was taken to Memorial University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, according to Sonny Cohrs, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman.
