    The discovery, Friday afternoon, July 21, 1916, of the nude and badly decomposed body of a man, half buried in the sand on the shore of Stearns' Island, in the Hudson River, about half way between Thurman and Stony Creek, probably explains the mysterious disappearance last fall of Harry Ellsworth Abbott, of Oakville, Connecticut, who was last heard from on September 27, 1915 when he mailed two letters at North Creek, one to his brother, Charles F. Abbott, of Oakville, in which he stated that he had been ill four days in an Albany Hospital and left there the night before at 7 o'clock. He evidently went by train to North Creek and said he was going to try to walk from there to Saranac Lake, as he had no money to pay his way.
