    PASADENA >> Officials are planning continued nightly closures of up to two lanes of the 210 Freeway in both directions between Pasadena and Glendale over the next two weeks as Caltrans continues work on a replacing and maintenance project, officials said. Up to two lanes of the eastbound 210 Freeway will be shut down between Ocean View Boulevard in Montrose and the Lincoln Avenue and Howard Street overcrossing in Pasadena nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Monday and July 17, Caltrans officials said in a statement.

    A grass and trash fire overnight in a riverbed near the Santa Ana Freeway in the Commerce area prompted officials to order lane closures while crews worked to inspect the roadway for damage. The fire was reported about 11:30 p.m. Monday in the Rio Hondo near Slauson Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported.

    The Los Angles County District Attorney's Office Monday charged Bumble Bee Foods LLC and two of its former employees with “willfully violating worker safety rules, allegedly causing the 2012 death of an employee who became trapped inside an industrial oven at the company's Santa Fe Springs plant.” The investigation and subsequent charges stemmed from the Oct. 11 death of Jose Melena, 62, of Wilmington, who was a father of six and a six-year employee of the tuna plant at 13100 Arctic Circle Dr. An autopsy performed after the body was discovered inside an industrial pressure cooker determined Melena died from burns, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner officials said.
