    Sullivan Goss has announced its inaugural exhibit, featuring the work of locally celebrated artist Whitney Brooks Abbott will be on display beginning on 1st Thursday, 5-8 p.m., March 1, at the gallery, 11 East Anapamu St. The exhibit will run until April 29. Hailing from a family legacy of local artists and ranchers, Abbott joins the roster of artists at Sullivan Goss after a successful tenure with the Ellen Easton Gallery. Thanks to Mother Nature, this past year in Santa Barbara County has been exciting and challenging, especially for plein-air painters such as Abbott.

    For those who've been wondering how best to contribute to the restoration of the front country trails burned in the Thomas Fire and severely damaged by the ensuing mud flows, a number of California-based mountain bike companies have partnered with the local Santa Barbara Mountain Bike Trail Volunteers to start raising money for this effort. They will be hosting a kick-off fundraising event at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Topa Topa Brewing in the Funk Zone.

As LuAnn Miller prepares to retire after more than 30 years as executive director, Goodman will assume her new post on Jan. 29. Goodman comes to IVYP from CALM, where she has worked since 2011, serving as chief development officer and member of the senior management team and focusing on strategic planning, communications and fundraising, and board development.
