The City opened the temporary homeless camp on River Street in March, in response to a significant number of unsheltered individuals living in Santa Cruz County.

    The City of Santa Cruz has approved a privately funded undergrounding project on West Cliff Drive between Columbia and Woodrow streets that begins today and continues for eight weeks with traffic impacts during the weekday working hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The westbound lane of West Cliff Drive between Columbia and Woodrow streets will be closed from Wednesday, Oct. 17, through Friday, Oct. 19, with a detour in place. Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 24, and continuing intermittently over eight weeks, the westbound lane of West Cliff Drive will be closed between Columbia and Woodrow streets with a detour in place.

Their winning artwork was unveiled on the sides of City recycling and refuse trucks and downtown big-belly solar compactor trash bins where it will be displayed over the next year.
