The spring varsity sports season is into post-season play in Oyster Bay. Every season the academic averages of all varsity sports teams are taken collectively and each team whose average is greater than 90 percent is honored with the scholar/athlete team distinction by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association . Early on Sunday morning, April 19, runners and walkers came together at the Sands Point Preserve to get their numbers and T-shirts to participate in the annual Helen's Run/Walk. More than six Floral Park residents participated in the event, including: Christine Lee, 29, finished in 51:39.8; Celia Lee, 59, finished in 52:06.6; Michael Jr. Windischmann, 10, finished in 54:33.9; Michael Windischmann, 49, finished in 55:16.6; Naomi Windischmann, 50, finished in 55:17.7; Simon Lee, 30, finished in 57:37.2. The weather was perfect for a brisk walk or run though the beautiful trails of Sands Point. Comment?
On Sunday April 19th, The Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths & Adults in Sands Point will be hosting their annual "Helen's Run/Walk." The 5K/3.1 mile event, which benefits individuals who are deaf-blind, will be held at the beautiful Sands Point Preserve. Comment?
