    WELL, THAT'S ONE WAY TO PLAN A POSSIBLE EXPANSION - There's been no public talk of it during recent Lower Pottsgrove Board of Commissioners' meetings, but some ground markings seen Friday at the township municipal building, 2199 Buchert Rd., Sanatoga, would seem to indicate a new addition there may be discussed sometime in the near future. An impromptu floor plan for new offices, two additional bathrooms, a hallway, and other undesignated space was laid out on the ground in orange spray paint lines at the southwest corner of the building.

    Charges have been filed against a 67-year-old Pottstown man by Lower Pottsgrove police, who allege he was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of a minor vehicle accident that occurred Oct. 29 at 11:50 a.m. in the parking lot of the North End Shopping Center, North Charlotte Street . Richard Spry, a resident of East Fourth Street, Pottstown, is expected to attend a hearing soon in the Sanatoga courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Edward Kropp Sr., according to Ofc.

    Three area residents were among individuals honored Friday night by Montgomery County Community College at its main campus as it introduced a list of "fabulous" alumni chosen to mark the institution's 50th anniversary, and officially launched a fund-raising campaign intended specifically to boost scholarships and academic programs. Among those designated as the "Fabulous Fifty Outstanding Alumni" of the college were James Vlahos , Sanatoga businessman and Lower Pottsgrove Township commissioner ; Dr. William Ziegler , principal of Pottsgrove High School ; and Debbie Zlomek , certified diabetes educator and registered nurse with Pottstown Medical Specialists Inc. .

    At least one person appeared seriously injured Wednesday at 7:23 a.m. during a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Charlotte Street and Maugers Mill Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township. Several fire companies and two Goodwill ambulances responded, and rescuers used hydraulic tools to extricate one occupant from a vehicle.

    Cellular phone and other mobile device users on the Verizon wireless network may not have to wait long to see improvements in their transmission coverage over some portions of the eastern side of Lower Pottsgrove Township, according to a legal advertisement published Saturday on behalf of a company called Cellco Partnership in Basking Ridge NJ . Cellco's notice announced its intent to erect several signal-boosting antennas of various heights for Verizon, none of which would exceed 15 feet, on a 15-foot tall building at 392 Sanatoga Rd. Legal compliance aspects of the installation are being overseen by the York PA office of EBI Consulting , according to the notice.

    There was extra money in Lower Pottsgrove Township's bank account at the end of its 2013 fiscal year, its new auditor reported Thursday to the Board of Commissioners. The township ended its year with a cash surplus of about $140,000, according to Ronald L. Minninger of Dreslin and Company Inc., a West Chester PA firm of certified public accountants.

    Keep your eyes open, members of the Lower Pottsgrove Board of Commissioners told township Solicitor Robert Brant on Thursday , in directing him to watch a legal case that could have a potential impact on future tax revenues. Brant advised the board that the Reading Materials Inc. division of the H&K Group, which operates the Pottstown Trap Rock quarry and asphalt plant in Sanatoga, is challenging a Montgomery County Board of Assessment Appeals decision on the value of its property at 394 Linfield Rd. He asked for, and unanimously received, commissioners' approval to formally follow the proceedings on their behalf.
