    Authorities say a former student at San Jose City College was killed after she was struck by a tractor at a construction site while back on campus. The Santa Clara County coroner identified 49-year-old Magda Gonzalez of San Jose as the woman who was hit when the backhoe tractor backed into a walkway between the college's fine arts and vocational arts buildings Tuesday morning.

    After pushback from Burlingame residents, Caltrain announced it will build a power station at a new location on the east side of the train tracks and away from residences. What's technically called a paralleling station will now be constructed in a light industrial area at 1369 N. Carolan Ave. next to the Burlingame Corporation Yard, north of Broadway and just west of Rollins Road, Caltrain officials announced at a meeting on Wednesday.

The U18 team, comprised mainly of players from the Peninsula Athletic League, finished 21st out 48 teams in the Silver Division of the "Classic" bracket.

    A San Jose man convicted of second-degree murder for killing a 46-year-old father of two in a 2016 drunk driving incident was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison Friday, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. Though jurors in the trial of Louis Sale, 33, were able to return guilty verdicts on four of his five charges - including felony vehicular manslaughter, felony drunk driving, felony driving with .08 percent or higher blood alcohol content and misdemeanor driving with a suspended license - it took them another day to find him guilty of second-degree murder in January, according to prosecutors.
