    The San Andreas Fault has an infamous reputation, but there are other fault lines lying around California that can trigger a powerful earthquake, especially if they rupture simultaneously, a new report finds. A U.S. geologist discovered that the San Andreas and the San Jacinto faults may have ruptured together about 200 years ago in the past, creating a earthquake that was felt from north of Los Angeles to San Diego, based on historical data captured by missionaries in those areas.

    Two hikers were safe Wednesday morning, but forced to spend the night at the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway after getting lost on Mount San Jacinto overnight. California State Parks got a call from the two Indiana men near the mountain's peak late yesterday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. A Riverside County Sheriff's Department helicopter crew found the hikers at 7:15 p.m., but could not get them out.
