King County is conducting the work as part of the Lake Hills/Lake Sammamish Sewer Upgrade Project, which will entail replacing aging pipelines and adding new capacity to support population growth in the Redmond area. The work will enable geotechnical engineers to assess soil and groundwater conditions along the planned pipeline alignment.

    At about 4:20 a.m. Monday, Redmond police and fire responded when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Northeast 24th Street at a very high speed went across West Lake Sammamish Parkway, hit a guardrail and propelled over and down the embankment, landing just short of the lake. According to a press release from the Redmond Police Department , there were no passengers in the vehicle and the vehicle did not hit any nearby residences.

    For the next few years, King County will be working to replace four and a half miles of sewer pipeline that serves parts of the Redmond community. The Lake Hills/Lake Sammamish Sewer Upgrade Project will entail replacing 21,000 feet of pipeline installed 45-60 years ago, to protect public health and water quality by ensuring reliable service, according to a King County press release.
