A Little Help is hosting an informational meeting at Congregational United Church of Christ at 10 a.m., Aug. 9. For a small yearly fee, members can call the service to arrange for a volunteer to do any number of tasks, from mowing the lawn to driving them to the store to helping them get their prescriptions filled to reading to them to attending medical exams with them to take notes.

    The BV Ambassadors are planning a benefit for local firefighters at the Rodeo Grounds on June 28, featuring live country music from Denver's Matt Rouch. Set for 5-9 p.m., next Saturday, half of the $10 entry fee will go to Chaffee County Fire Protection District, as well as both Buena Vista and Salida fire departments, distributed evenly between the agencies to spend as they wish, according to Mike Sorrels of Liars Lodge, one of the event's sponsors.
